TESTIMONIALS

During my time as a trainee, I not only learned about the practice of yoga but also about myself. While learning how to instruct little ones in asana (movement) and pranayama (breath) I learned strategies to help center myself and focus my breath. While learning, I made a group of friends who helped me to form a wonderful yoga community. The instructors at YAY are incredibly aware of the yoga community and insightful. It was very refreshing to learn authentic Sanskrit while practicing yoga. I was also very impressed by their attention to inclusivity while teaching the history and culture of yoga.

— KOURTNEY, ELEMENTARY TEACHER

Overall, three words can sum it up for me – informative, motivating and empowering.

All information and materials were presented in a very clear, organized way. It’s amazing how inspiring, open and ready to help with any aspects of your future children’s teaching the trainers were. YAY’s CYTT program gave me a lot of confidence in my classroom management skills which is key when leading a successful children’s yoga class. This program is transformative.

– ALESSANDRA, PERSONAL TRAINER

My experience with the MP CYTT was transformative, personally and professionally.

I expected to learn the basics of being a children’s yoga teacher but I was not expecting to be provided with a wealth of knowledge, resources, and practicum experiences. It was an enriching and beautiful opportunity that stretched and challenged me as an individual and a professional school social worker, to think deeper and beyond my awareness of my practice.

– KRISTIN LUNARDINI, SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER

I strongly recommend learning how to teach and apply the skills of Yoga through the YAY training program and under the leadership of Instructor Jill Carey.

Being able to offer my students a year-long class in Yoga with a connection with SEL (Social Emotional Learning) is a partnership that will teach students how to use Yoga to improve behavior and enhance their academic performance.

— JENNIFER JONES, SECONDARY P.E .TEACHER

I’d highly recommend YAY’s CYTT. Jill, who led the training, is truly a subject matter expert, from teaching children’s yoga to the business of teaching yoga.

As a professional yoga teacher, I appreciated the practical experience I gained teaching three classes at different age levels, from pre-school through high school. Equally valuable was the feedback from Jill and fellow students, which will help me improve the quality of my instruction.

I also appreciated that Jill brought in other subject matter experts, such as a music therapist and a trauma therapist to enrich and diversify the learning experience.

The training manual is well organized and comprehensive and will be an invaluable reference tool in the future.

What ultimately makes MP’s CYTT excellent is that Jill asks each student what would make the experience even better at the end of training, so the program is constantly evolving into the next best version of itself.

– SCOTT KINSLOE, YOGA BUSINESS OWNER

The training manual is amazing, [YAY] provides all the visuals, language, and options that are available for each and every yoga pose and flows. The management style/language taught is smart, efficient, respectful, kid friendly, and empowering to every child.

– ADA JACKSON, YOGA TEACHER

I appreciated how the training began with the history of yoga and called out culture appropriation. Diverse perspectives were amplified and trauma was defined. We worked from the lens of teaching anti-appropriate, anti-racist, equity focused and trauma-informed classes from day one.

– NICOLE SCHNEIDER, YOGA TEACHER

Yoga trainings are expensive.
Spend your time & money wisely.

There are countless children’s yoga teacher trainings that claim to certify you in one weekend. The truth is, those companies charge a boatload of money in return for a certificate of completion that isn’t recognized by yoga studios, schools, or other reputable children’s yoga providers.

ONLY 95-HOUR TEACHER TRAININGS REGISTERED WTIH THE YOGA ALLIANCE CAN ISSUE THE RCYT DESIGNATION.

POLICIES & FAQs

WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM PREREQUISITES?

You do not need any prior experience or certifications. Our training program will teach you everything you need to know, from yoga poses to classroom management to trauma-conscious practices. If you would like to register your training with the Yoga Alliance, you will need to take a 200-hour RYT program, but they can be completed in any order. Please read the Yoga Alliance RCYT registration requirements so you can make an informed decision about your participation.

HOW WILL I GET A MANUAL?

Students within the United States can choose a digital or hardcopy manual at checkout. Due to current COVID-19 shipping restrictions in the Chicago area, students overseas will receive digital manuals. If you are an international student who has a U.S. address or contact who can receive a hardcopy manual on your behalf, we are happy to send it there.

REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY

We do not offer refunds or deferrals on our Virtual CYTT programs.

WHAT STYLE OF YOGA IS THIS PROGRAM?

Because this is a children’s yoga program, we present the practice in a holistic way, touching upon and exploring various South Asian styles and lineages (Ashtanga, Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa, etc.) as well as Kemetic (Egyptian) yoga. We do not believe there is one “true” yoga style nor do we presume to make that decision on behalf of kids. Instead, we equip our trainees with broad knowledge of several common styles of practice.

CERTIFICATION POLICY

Participants graduate upon successful completion of all program requirements, including submission of daily checklists, lesson plans, and recorded teaching clips (see a sample exit slip in the “How Virtual Training Works” section). These documents will be reviewed for completeness and proficiency. Once the lead trainer deems the work complete and up to standard, the trainee will receive a Certificate of Completion and RCYT eligibility (per YA requirements).

Registration with Yoga Alliance is subject entirely to their policies, and requires having an additional 200 hour teacher training. We suggest reviewing their requirements directly as they may be subject to change. Those not interested in Yoga Alliance registration are still eligible for YAY/Mission Propelle Certification. Our training exceeds all international standards and is recognized by the Yoga Alliance regardless of whether you choose to, or are eligible to, register the RCYT designation.

Note that while many children’s yoga workshops claim to be “certification” programs, only Yoga Alliance Registered Children’s Yoga Schools—like YAY by Mission Propelle’s—are able to administer the industry-recognized RCYT designation.

HOW LONG DOES IT TYPICALLY TAKE TO FINISH THE PROGRAM?

The program consists of 20 lessons, each taking about 4-5 hours to complete. So, if you do one lesson a day — that’s about 20 days. You are encouraged to work at your own pace and take advantage of the asynchronous resources to work on the program when it suits you. On average, trainees graduate in about 3 months (that’s about 1.5 hours per day for 60 days).

DO I NEED TO BUY ANY BOOKS OR ADDITIONAL RESOURCES IN ORDER TO TAKE THIS PROGRAM?

NO! Our tuition includes everything. You will not need to purchase any books or resources – your curriculum manual will include everything we need. If we add a resource, it will be provided at no additional cost to you.

MISSED CLASSES AND MAKE-UPS

To graduate, you must complete all asynchronous work (available 24/7) plus 9.5 hours of live training. We offer a variety of live workshops throughout the year to suit your schedule. Access to our training material is granted through your graduation deadline. If you enrolled in 2021, you must submit your graduation materials on or before 12/31/2022. If you enrolled in 2022 or 2023, your must submit your graduation materials on or before 12/31/2023.

WHEN ARE LIVE TRAININGS?

Currently, we offer at least 6 hours of live training a month with options on weekdays and weekends, day and night. We do not have a fixed schedule as our program is responsive to our current trainees: If you have limits on your availability, we will work around your schedule. We routinely refresh and add additional options and specialty workshops, which are included free of charge to program participants.

TIME ZONE ISSUES

Our live workshops are held in Central Standard Time (CST). If you are a prospective international student with concerns about time zones, reach out to erin@buddhabellykidsyoga.com
